What type of paint do you use and why?

Do you still use oil based paints and what is the primary difference between oil and water-based (acrylic, latex) paints? Benefits?

Oil-based paints are now less common in architectural use due to the drive for reduced solvents and VOCs. They offer a smooth finish, good moisture resistance, and durability. However, as they age, they tend to become brittle, leading to issues like cracking and peeling. They can also promote mildew growth in moist areas. Water-based paints, such as latex and acrylics, have advanced significantly and now excel in performance. They resist moisture and mildew, are flexible, retain color well, and don't stick to surfaces. We mainly use high-quality 100% acrylic water-based paints.

What types of environmentally friendly options do you offer?

The majority of the products we utilize are labeled as Low/No VOC and Non-Toxic. However, there are instances where we may need to employ a product that doesn't fall under the Low VOC category. This could be due to specific requirements for certain applications. If you have concerns regarding this matter for your project, please discuss them with your estimator.

How many coats of paint are included in the quote?

We always apply two coats of paint, guaranteed.

What are the different kinds of paint finishes and how do I select them for each room?

Paint finishes are typically categorized as follows:Flat Finish - also referred to as matte finish. We typically reserve this finish for ceilings. It's not recommended for most surfaces due to its lower durability compared to other sheens. Satin/Eggshell Finish - a low luster finish. This is commonly used for walls in homes because of its good durability for washing and resistance to wear and tear. Semi-Gloss Finish - a glossier finish. It's often used in wet areas of homes or businesses like bathrooms, laundry rooms, or kitchens. Additionally, semi-gloss is preferred for doors, door casings, window sills, and trim.

Can you offer advice on how to choose a color?

Absolutely! We offer free Color Consulting for your projects when you hire us for your painting job. Color Consulting ensures that you get the opinion of a certified designer on the colors you pick. Picking the right color can be tough with paint because lighting can subtly change and alter how a color looks. Plus, having a Color Designer can help with disagreements between spouses over color choices. It's common for spouses to have different preferences, which can be a big deal. But with a Color Designer, you can find solutions that work for both of you and make the process smoother!

What if I don’t like the color selected, can I change it?

Would it be an additional cost? Yes, it is ultimately the homeowner’s responsibility for any color choices, and there is an additional cost for a color change. The additional cost is determined by how much of the job is completed, along with the cost of the additional paint.

What is Faux Finish?

This is a decorative painting method. "Faux" is a French term meaning artificial or false. It involves using paint to mimic materials like marble and wood. There are various forms of decorative paint finishes used for walls and furniture, including marbleizing, wood graining, Venetian plaster, color wash, striping or streaking, and rag painting.

How long will the job take?

At H3 Painting, we prioritize quality above all else. Our work reflects a commitment to delivering exceptional results with both speed and efficiency. Occasionally, depending on the complexity of the project, this dedication to quality may result in slightly longer timelines as we strive for near-perfect outcomes. Rest assured, when your project is estimated, we can provide a general timeframe for its completion, ensuring transparency and clarity throughout the process.

How quickly can an estimator get to my home?

Typically, you can expect to receive an estimate within one week. However, please note that during peak seasons such as April, May, and June, when we experience a high volume of inquiries, the wait time for an estimate may extend to two weeks.

Can you paint the exterior of my home in the winter time? Are there certain times of the year or weather conditions that would prohibit any type of service?

Your home's exterior can indeed be painted during the winter. While many painters may slow down or seek other work during this season, H3 Paint remains active. Our paint can be applied in temperatures as low as 40 degrees Fahrenheit, as the products we use adhere well at this temperature. During the winter, we primarily concentrate on interior paint projects, occasionally tackling exterior ones. Your estimator will assist you in determining timelines and any adjustments due to weather conditions.

What is the benefit of working with H3 Paint?

How do I prepare my rooms for your visit?

You will need to remove any small items from the tops of shelves and pictures from your wall. We can move the larger items towards the center of the room and properly cover and protect furniture/items.

How much will this painting job disrupt my home?

We strive to minimize disruption. Each day, our crews diligently clean the work areas before wrapping up, relocating tools and paint to a designated shop area, such as a garage or basement.

My room is wallpapered now. How will you handle that?

We will remove wallpaper prior to painting. Before we remove the paper we will test an area to see how the paper was applied. If the wallpaper was not applied properly it may lead to damage to the walls when paper is removed. Your crew leader will discuss with you other options if this is the case.

Can you fix water damage or holes in my walls and if so, how long will it take?

As part of our preparation process, we'll address any necessary repairs like filling old holes or fixing water damage. The time required for repairs depends on the extent of the damage, and we'll discuss any associated costs with you before beginning the work to ensure full transparency.

Can I trust your employees?

Absolutely! Our employees are vetted and background checked. Our Company has been built on character and heart. We expect the same from our employees.
